IN HIS OWN VOICE: SPEECHES & INTERVIEWS

Mario Savio was best known for his oratory, "passionate yet logical, accessible, democratic, and at times poetic, " in the words of his biographer, Robert Cohen. Listening to his speeches provides the best opportunity for understanding his impact upon his, and successive, generations.

The text of the speeches below, along with that of other speeches and writings by Mario, can be found in Freedom's Orator: Mario Savio and the Radical Legacy of the 1960s by Robert Cohen, published by Oxford University Press (2009). ping.gif
